What the Hell is Going on Here?

The Central Asia Rally is the newest excursion brought to you by the deranged geniuses (modesty is not our strong point!) at The Travel Scientists.  This event is an exotic blend of managed mayhem and unique travel scenarios that is part road rally, part adventure travel, part social experiment, part gateway into the unknown, part high-octane party… and all outrageous fun!

Our course takes us through a part of the world that is rarely explored by Western travelers.  We begin in the comfort & splendor of Budapest, race through the relative familiarity of Ukraine and Southern Russia, and then wind through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan (briefly!), and Tajikistan to the finish line in the growing metropolis of Dushanbe.  The Central Asian Republics of the former Soviet Union are re-emerging after decades of Communist isolation, civil war, and economic turmoil… the perfect place to re-discover adventure and the unique thrills that are the hallmark of true world travel!



Okay… but How’s it Done?

The Central Asia Rally is a ‘minimal assistance’ event – we give you the tools to find adventure and a framework to spur discovery in these unfamiliar lands, but we don’t spoil the thrill of your achievements by mother hen-ing you all along the way.  Drive any type of vehicle you like, the wilder the better – ancient wrecks, de-commissioned fire trucks, hearses, and the like are encouraged with entry fee discounts!

What we provide is:

  • Assistance with documentation (visas, licensing, etc.)
  • Rally preparation (equipment, accommodations, and more)
  • Route planning (for Competition, Touring, and Extreme rally profiles)
  • A comprehensive Road Book – your ultimate survival guide

We also take great pride in hosting a community atmosphere for our groups and encouraging wild partying! socialization.  Most teams keep company and share the adventure by following our recommended routes & daily finishes.  We also offer daily destinations and challenges that encourage group competition, camaraderie, and celebration.  There’s no better way to travel than with new mates at your side… and beneath your bumper… and hanging from the hostel balcony… and, well, you probably get the picture!

There’s a start, a finish line, and thousands of miles of road in-between – we leave it up to you to decide where to find the most fun!
